A lonely road ahead...
According to Leland Ryken, a professor of English at Wheaton College in Wheaton, the attitude that sex was extremely sinful belongs to the Roman Catholics. Rome taught that sex was always sinful, however, the Puritans completely disagreed with that belief. Ryken wrote that “When a New England wife complained, first to her pastor, and then to the whole congregation, that her husband was neglecting their sex life, the church proceeded to excommunicate the man.” [Worldly Saints, 39.]
